What you will drive

The Youth Mentor will provide guidance, advice, feedback and support to program mentees. He/she will provide program participants with the tools to become a better version of themselves. This work will be done in the community with at-risk youth in Prince George's County and Montgomery County, MD. Job Responsibilities Establishes, with the mentee, the mentee's explicit goals and objectives for the relationship. Takes the initiative in the relationship but allows the mentee to take responsibility for their growth, development, and career planning. Commits to meeting with mentee on a regular basis. Provides frank, honest, and constructive feedback. Provides encouragement and assists the mentee in identifying professional development activities. Reviews goals and objectives of the relationship with the mentee midway and at the end of a formal, long-term relationship. Follows through on commitments made to mentee. Recognizes and works through conflicts in caring ways, invites discussion on differences with the mentee, and arranges for a third party to assist, if necessary. Maintains a professional relationship with appropriate boundaries. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelorโ€™s degree in social work, psychology or a related field. Experience working with at-risk youth. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Must have a clean background check.
