Writer/Editor

• Identify storytelling opportunities that demonstrate ABC's mission and mobilize audiences to take actions that advance conservation and revenue generation.
• Research, write, and edit digital content (news stories, blog posts) with an emphasis on habitat and conservation practices, conveying technical information for general audiences.
• Support editorial planning, ensure adherence to brand guidelines, and collaborate with designers and multimedia producers to create compelling visuals.
• Assist with press releases, magazine stories, and omnichannel content across web, email, social media, and digital advertising.

This role helps expand awareness of bird conservation and motivates people to take actions that benefit birds and their habitats, contributing to the protection of threatened bird species and the ecosystems they depend on.

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with ability to transform technical information into engaging content for lay audiences.
• BA/BS or MA/MS in Journalism, English, or related field, ideally with ornithology/environmental/ecology coursework.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in content development (editing/writing/proofreading), preferably for an environmental, science, or policy organization.
• Knowledge of birds and bird biology resources (e.g., Birds of the World, IUCN Red List) required; familiarity with AP style strongly desired.
