Verification Scientist I, GHG Forestry

Core responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments under various voluntary and compliance carbon offset standards for forestry and land use projects
• Perform document review, quantitative analyses, geospatial analysis, and onsite forest reconnaissance activities
• Manage client relationships and coordinate the audit process while ensuring high customer satisfaction
• Maintain knowledge of program standards, implement quality improvements, and participate in auditor training

This role drives positive change by verifying carbon offsets that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supporting global climate action through rigorous scientific assessment of forestry projects that sequester carbon and promote sustainable land use.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or relevant scientific field with 2+ years of professional experience
• Experience with forest inventory techniques, field measurements, and proficiency in ArcGIS/remote sensing
• Exceptional quantitative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Fluent in English and Portuguese with excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to travel internationally and work independently in a changing environment

Compensation and perks:

• Salary ranges: United States: $70,000 - $90,000 USD; Brazil: 144,000 - 180,000 BRL
