Verification Scientist I, GHG Forestry

Core responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments under various voluntary and compliance carbon offset standards for forestry and land use projects
• Perform document review, quantitative analyses, geospatial analysis, and onsite forest reconnaissance activities
• Issue verification findings, write audit reports, and oversee work of contract auditors/consultants
• Coordinate audit processes with clients, ensure data provision, and maintain high customer satisfaction

This role drives positive change by verifying carbon offsets that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supporting global climate mitigation efforts through rigorous scientific assessment of forestry and land use projects.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or relevant scientific field with 2+ years of professional experience
• Experience with standard forest inventory techniques and field measurement applications
• Proficiency in ArcGIS and/or remote sensing applications
• Exceptional quantitative skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills with ability to travel domestically

Estimated annual salary: $70,000 - $90,000. This is a remote home-office based role with flexible work arrangements, though it may include domestic and international travel for audits.
