Job Title: Transmission Intern 

Department: Asset Operations 

Reports to: Manager, Transmission and Systems Analysis 

Effective Date: Sep 2025 

Location: Remote 

Travel: None 

POSITION PURPOSE:    

This is a temporary, non-exempt position that will be reporting to the Manager, Transmission and Systems Analysis. The Transmission Intern will use quantitative reasoning, problem solving, analysis, and programming skills to assist the transmission analysis team with improving fundamentals-based wholesale electricity price forecasting efforts.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Build a fundamental understanding of wholesale energy price formation and KCE forecasting methods 

  • Implement Python code to adjust forecasting inputs on an automated basis 

  • Design and implement automated tests to ensure data quality 

  • Compile and analyze information on ERCOT and NYISO market participants 

  • All other duties as required 

WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Pursuing degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, computer science, economics, or related field 

  • Experience working with Python and SQL code 

  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Ability to work in a small team 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer
