The Bergel Institute Fellowship

Core responsibilities:

• Pursue substantive change through detailed research, organizational development, or innovative projects that challenge accepted norms
• Focus on one of the specified research areas: ending poverty-violence connection, building fully resourced communities, using AI for economic opportunity, or expanding health understanding
• Engage in 20 hours per week of intensive study and research
• Participate in presentations and mentorship activities

This fellowship advances human knowledge and the human condition through research and project development in critical areas like poverty reduction, community building, economic opportunity, and health understanding, creating positive change by challenging accepted norms and testing assumptions against evidence.

Required qualifications:

• Open to individuals of all ages and academic backgrounds
• Demonstrated readiness to pursue substantive change through research or project development
• Ability to work independently on intensive study and research projects
• Willingness to participate in virtual program with two in-person visits to Florida

Compensation and perks:

• $30,000 annual stipend
• Active mentorship and structured support
• Two paid visits to Florida for presentations
• Primarily virtual work arrangement
• June 2026 – May 2027 term
