How to Apply for Technical Architect

at Klir

๐Ÿข About Klir

Klir is a purpose-driven SaaS company revolutionizing water utility operations with an integrated platform that ensures safer, compliant, and ecologically-friendly water management. As a rapidly growing Irish tech leader, Klir offers the chance to work on mission-critical infrastructure that directly impacts public health and the environment.

About This Role

As a Technical Architect, you will own the post-sales technical relationship with enterprise water utility customers, designing and governing integrations between Klir's SaaS platform and complex utility systems. Your work will directly enable seamless data migration, system interoperability, and compliance with cybersecurity standards, making you the linchpin for successful customer outcomes and long-term partnerships.

๐Ÿ’ก A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a stand-up with the customer's IT team to review integration progress, followed by a deep-dive session with a system integrator to resolve data mapping issues. Afternoon could involve designing an event-driven API for SCADA integration, then preparing a compliance audit for SOC 2 controls, wrapping up with a call to plan the next phase of data migration.

๐Ÿ“ Tips for Applying to Klir

1

1. Tailor your CV to highlight post-sales implementation experience, not just pre-sales or designโ€”use metrics like migration volume or integration complexity.

2

2. Explicitly mention any work with water utility systems (LIMS, CIS, SCADA, GIS) or similar infrastructure-heavy industries (energy, telecom).

3

3. In your cover letter, address how you ensure compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy standards (e.g., SOC 2, NIST) in integration projects.

4

4. Showcase a specific data migration project: describe the source/target systems, data volume, transformation rules, and how you validated data integrity.

5

5. Demonstrate your ability to lead customer conversations by including examples of partnering with IT teams and managing expectations during complex rollouts.

โœ‰๏ธ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

โ€ข Emphasize your experience with post-sales enterprise implementations in regulated industries, highlighting water or utility-specific systems. โ€ข Showcase your hands-on technical skills (APIs, event-driven architecture, SQL) and how they drive successful data migrations and integrations. โ€ข Stress your ability to navigate complex customer environments, build trust with IT teams, and ensure compliance with security standards. โ€ข Convey passion for Klir's mission of safer, ecologically-friendly water management and how your work directly impacts public good.

๐Ÿ” Research Before Applying

To stand out, make sure you've researched:

  • โ†’ 1. Explore Klir's product offerings (e.g., Klir Data Hub, compliance modules) and understand their value proposition for water utilities.
  • โ†’ 2. Review case studies or press releases about Klir's deployments with water utilities to grasp typical integration scenarios.
  • โ†’ 3. Familiarize yourself with water utility systems (LIMS, CIS, SCADA, GIS, EAM) and common data standards (e.g., CIM, SML).
  • โ†’ 4. Understand the regulatory landscape for water utilities in Ireland/EU, including cybersecurity directives (NIS2) and data privacy (GDPR).

๐Ÿ’ฌ Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 1. Describe a complex integration you led between a SaaS platform and legacy utility systemsโ€”what were the key challenges and how did you overcome them?
2 2. How would you approach a data migration from a legacy LIMS to Klir's Data Hub, including profiling, mapping, and reconciliation?
3 3. Walk us through how you ensure integrations comply with SOC 2 Type 2 and water utility cybersecurity standards.
4 4. How do you manage competing priorities between customer IT teams, system integrators, and internal product teams during implementation?
5 5. Given Klir's platform, how would you design an event-driven integration with a SCADA system for real-time data ingestion?
Practice Interview Questions โ†’

โš ๏ธ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • 1. Focusing too much on pre-sales or design without concrete examples of post-sales implementation and customer handholding.
  • 2. Downplaying cybersecurity and complianceโ€”this is critical for water utilities; failing to address it signals a lack of fit.
  • 3. Being vague about data migration methodologies; avoid generic statements and instead detail specific tools, processes, and outcomes.
