Summer 2026 Public Affairs & Communications Internship (Undergraduate)

Under the supervision of the Public Affairs & Communications Team Manager:

• Support the development and implementation of communications campaigns.
• Draft materials like press releases, media advisories, reporter pitches, op-eds, and more.
• Track news stories related to climate and energy issues and produce media reports on narrative trends, emerging risks, and opportunities.
• Proactively share insights and briefings on message testing, polling, research, and more.
• Collaborate across Earthjustice's communications department, and work in partnership with coalitions and legal experts.

This role creates positive change by supporting strategic communications that advance Earthjustice's environmental litigation and legislative advocacy, helping to protect people's health, preserve wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change.

• Enrolled in a college/university program as a sophomore, junior, or senior during fall 2026.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and comfort navigating and learning new tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Interns at Earthjustice receive an hourly rate that is considered taxable income. The summer 2026 hourly rate for undergraduate students is $19.18. The internship is designed as a structured learning opportunity that empowers the intern to apply communication skills, produce written materials, and gain practical experience in climate and public-interest communications.
