How to Apply for Staff or Principal, Generation Interconnection & Grid Engineering
at Antora Energy
🏢 About Antora Energy
Antora Energy is pioneering thermal battery technology to decarbonize industrial heat and power, a sector that accounts for a significant portion of global emissions. Their factory-built, American-made solution offers a unique blend of cost-effectiveness and reliability, making them a leader in the clean energy transition. Joining Antora means contributing to a mission-driven team that values humility, openness, and joy in the workplace.
About This Role
This role is the technical backbone of Antora's interconnection efforts, ensuring their thermal storage projects successfully connect to the grid across multiple RTOs/ISOs. You'll own the entire interconnection process, from initial applications to study management, and influence project configuration and sizing to minimize risks. Your work directly enables the deployment of clean, always-on energy for industrial and data center loads.
💡 A Day in the Life
A typical day might involve reviewing interconnection study results from a consultant, then hopping on a call with an RTO to clarify a modeling assumption. You'd also collaborate with Antora's project development team to optimize plant configuration for a new site, and draft an interconnection application for an upcoming queue window.
🚀 Application Tools
🎯 Who Antora Energy Is Looking For
- Deep expertise in generation interconnection processes across MISO, SPP, and ERCOT, with hands-on experience in study management and application submission.
- Strong technical judgment in power system modeling (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD) and ability to direct consultants while independently de-risking projects.
- Proven track record of navigating complex interconnection queues and resolving technical issues with utilities and RTOs.
- Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-growing startup, able to balance strategic planning with detailed execution.
📝 Tips for Applying to Antora Energy
Highlight specific RTO/ISO experience (MISO, SPP, ERCOT) with concrete examples of studies you've managed or applications you've filed.
Demonstrate your ability to work with consultants by describing a scenario where you directed external modeling work.
Showcase any experience with energy storage or thermal technologies, as it directly relates to Antora's product.
Quantify your impact: e.g., 'Reduced interconnection study timeline by X months' or 'Successfully interconnected Y MW of generation.'
Tailor your resume to emphasize hands-on technical work, not just management; this is a 'player-coach' role.
✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter
['Your technical expertise in interconnection engineering and familiarity with the specific RTOs mentioned.', 'Your ability to own the end-to-end process and make independent technical decisions to de-risk projects.', "Alignment with Antora's mission to decarbonize industry and your passion for solving hard energy challenges.", 'Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment, showing adaptability and ownership.']
