Staff Accountant American Pediatric Society Society for Pediatric Research Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting Overview: Pediatric Academic Societies, Inc. (PAS): Four-day program of scientific & educational sessions, workshops, special interest groups, award presentations, social & networking events 8,000+ child health professionals, researchers, and trainees attend annually American Pediatric Society (APS): Vision: A secure future for academic pediatrics Mission: To engage distinguished pediatric leaders to shape the future of academic pediatric Background & Membership: Founded in 1888 as the first pediatric society in North America. More than 1,800 granted memberships in recognition of extraordinary achievement Society for Pediatric Research (SPR): Vision: Connecting, collaborating, and catalyzing the conduct of research Mission: Creating a network of multi-disciplinary researchers to improve child health Background & Membership: Founded in 1929, more than 4,000+ physician-scientist members are actively engaged in all phases of basic, clinical, and translational research necessary to advance child health. Includes four regions: Western, Midwest, Southern, Eastern International Pediatric Research Foundation | Pediatric Research Foundation Provides oversight of the APS-, SPR-, and European SPR-owned journal, Pediatric Research Funds charitable interests of the APS and SPR Position Summary: The Staff Accountant (StfAcct) works directly with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance to ensure the weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly accounting functions of the APS, SPR, PAS Meeting, SPR Regional Societies, International Pediatric Research Foundation, and the Pediatric Research Foundation are completed accurately and on a timely basis.As a key contributor to the Finance team, the StfAcct provides support to the Society and PAS departments on finance matters. The position is full-time, and occasional travel (~ 1-2 trips per year) is required. Key Responsibilities: Accounts payable processing, general ledger maintenance, deposits and reconciliations of checking & investment accounts, semi-monthly payroll uploads, and monthly financial statement preparation for all not-for-profit entities Accounting of funds received for pre-registration, onsite registration, exhibits, and sponsorship monies for multiple scientific/academic conferences Prepare Form 1099โ€™s for all not-for-profit entities Assist with budget planning and uploads Set up ACH payments and initiate wire transfers for stipend payments and employee reimbursements Assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with external audits and other projects as directed Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or related field. Experience and Skills: Prefer 3+ years in an accounting role, experience in non-profit organizations is preferred, but not required. Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting software is a plus. Ability to work in a collegial, small staff environment where energetic collaboration and dependability are essential. Demonstrated experience working productively in remote environments. Strong organization skills and consistent, reliable attention to detail. At ease with simultaneous, multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and alteration of priorities. Ability to manage highly confidential information. Self-starter who can work independently and achieve high standards to meet multiple deadlines. Proven record of sound judgment, analysis, problem-solving, discernment, and decision-making. Proven ability to communicate in a timely, reliable, accurate, and professional manner verbally and in writing with board members, senior leaders, mid-level managers, and external and internal staff
