Staff Accountant

• Manage full life cycle of accounts payable and receivable, including recording vendor invoices, credit card transactions, contributions revenue, and ensuring accurate coding and timely payments.
• Support general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end closes, balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with payroll processing and personnel cost allocations.
• Contribute to systems and process optimization to strengthen financial infrastructure for organizational growth.

This role ensures the financial health and operational efficiency of iNaturalist, enabling the organization to scale its impact in documenting and protecting biodiversity through community science and open data.

• Associate’s degree and at least two years of professional nonprofit accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP for nonprofits; proficiency in fund accounting software and intermediate spreadsheet skills.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical and reconciliation skills, and ability to interpret policies and regulations.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills; high integrity and confidentiality.

Starting compensation: $76,000 per year (non-negotiable).
