Staff Accountant

Core responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day general accounting activities including general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable processing, and audit preparation
• Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and credit card transactions to ensure financial accuracy
• Support accounts receivable functions including invoicing, cash receipts, and AR reconciliations
• Maintain accounting records, support monthly/year-end close processes, and assist with budget-to-actual reviews

This role contributes to the overall financial health, accuracy and compliance of the organization, supporting Big Picture Learning's mission to reorient education around student passions and interests.

Required qualifications:

• 4-7 years of experience in general accounting, preferably in a nonprofit environment
• BA in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred (though not required due to equity considerations)
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger and bank reconciliations
• High preference for experience with Intacct, Expensify, Bill.com and Salesforce
• Strong aptitude with Excel and similar financial tools
• Ability to work remotely in distributed teams across multiple time zones
