Sr Linux Systems Engineer

About the Role

The Senior Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for the technical architecture, planning, and implementation of enterprise Linux Systems across cloud, physical and virtual environments.

Responsibilities

• Completes performance engineering to ensure high availability and reliability of critical Linux server infrastructure.
• Oversees security compliance with configuration management, patch management, and version control.
• Provides guidance, mentors staff and acts as technical escalation point for the team.
• Works with Solution Architects and Application Owners/Developers to architect, configure, and deploy applications requiring Linux environment.

This role supports Republic Services' vision to partner with customers to create a more sustainable world by ensuring reliable and secure IT infrastructure for environmental services operations that advance circularity and support decarbonization.

• Minimum 8+ years of experience designing and supporting systems running Linux distributions such as Redhat, Ubuntu and/or CentOS.
• Minimum 3+ years using Orchestration and Continuous Integration tools (Terraform, Jenkins).
• Minimum 4+ years of Virtualization (VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of scripting tools such as Perl, Bash, PHP, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge and previous experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, ECS, RDS, VPC, IAM).
