The AECOM Water Business Line is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join the Phoenix, AZ office. This role focuses on hydrology and hydraulic modeling, stormwater and roadway drainage design, and municipal water resources projects. This role leads the delivery of mid- to large-scale infrastructure projects while providing a clear path into a technical lead role with PM responsibilities and growth within AECOM’s growing water resources practice. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, support client relationships, and contribute to business development within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
Job Description
- Serve as lead engineer or discipline lead for mid- to large-scale water resources and stormwater infrastructure projects
- Direct preparation and delivery of construction packages, including design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analyses, technical memoranda, and design reports
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering projects with a focus on stormwater management systems
- Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses supporting drainage, flood mitigation, and roadway projects
- Lead conceptual and final design of water management infrastructure such as channels, culverts, detention facilities, levees, floodwalls, spillways, and associated access features
- Ensure designs incorporate erosion control measures, geosynthetics, and surface and subsurface drainage systems
- Provide technical oversight, independent reviews, and approval of engineering analyses and design deliverables
- Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, including subcontractors, typically consisting of five or more team members
- Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers and designers
- Support client coordination, present design solutions, and contribute to development of project proposals and business growth initiatives
