Mission

What you will drive

  • Develop and oversee EDF's new Phytoplankton Carbon Solutions (PCS) Research Initiative, managing a portfolio of research projects and partnerships.
  • Conduct independent research, lead analysis and writing of papers for peer-reviewed journals, and synthesize findings from the PCS Research Initiative.
  • Communicate scientific data to policymakers and external partners, and represent EDF at external meetings.

This role drives forward a strategic research agenda to generate decision-quality evidence on the effectiveness and socio-ecological impacts of marine carbon dioxide removal methods, informing climate policy and ocean sustainability.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • PhD in ocean science, biological oceanography, biogeochemistry, marine ecology, or related field with at least 5 years relevant experience (inclusive of postdoctoral).
  • Senior-level contributor with full mastery of subject matter, demonstrated by scholarly publications, conference involvement, or grant awards.
  • Proven history of leading comprehensive science-focused projects and managing a portfolio of research projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize and communicate scientific data in an advocacy setting.
