How to Apply for Senior SCADA Systems & Integration Engineer
at esVolta
🏢 About esVolta
esVolta is a leading independent developer and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage projects across North America, with approximately 2.0 GWh of projects in operation or development. The company is at the forefront of the fast-growing energy storage market, helping transition the electric grid to cleaner, more reliable power through large-scale battery systems that provide fast-ramping capacity and renewable integration support.
About This Role
As a Senior SCADA Systems & Integration Engineer at esVolta, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems for utility-scale battery energy storage projects across North America. This role involves integrating battery management systems with grid operations, ensuring reliable communication protocols, and supporting the deployment of projects that provide critical grid services like frequency regulation and renewable energy integration.
💡 A Day in the Life
A typical day involves remote monitoring of SCADA systems across multiple battery storage sites, troubleshooting communication issues between battery management systems and utility control centers, designing integration solutions for new projects, and collaborating with project teams to ensure reliable grid operations. You'll work with utilities to implement communication protocols and ensure compliance with grid operator requirements while supporting the deployment of new energy storage assets.
🚀 Application Tools
🎯 Who esVolta Is Looking For
- Has 5+ years of experience with SCADA systems in utility-scale energy projects, specifically with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or renewable energy integration
- Possesses deep knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850) and experience with SCADA platforms like Ignition, Wonderware, or similar
- Demonstrates experience with grid interconnection requirements and utility communication standards for energy storage projects
- Has a background in electrical engineering or related field with hands-on experience in system integration and commissioning of utility-scale projects
📝 Tips for Applying to esVolta
Highlight specific experience with battery energy storage SCADA systems, not just general SCADA experience
Quantify your impact on previous energy storage projects (e.g., 'integrated 100MW BESS project with ISO market operations')
Demonstrate knowledge of North American grid operations and utility interconnection processes
Showcase experience with remote monitoring and troubleshooting of distributed energy assets
Include examples of working with utilities and grid operators on communication protocol implementation
✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter
['Your specific experience with SCADA systems for battery energy storage or renewable energy projects', 'Examples of successful integration projects with utilities or grid operators', 'Understanding of how energy storage provides grid services (frequency regulation, capacity, renewable integration)', 'Experience working remotely on distributed energy projects across multiple locations']
Generate Cover Letter →🔍 Research Before Applying
