What you will drive
Core responsibilities:
- Create and lead ambitious research agendas to answer complex questions and inform high-impact grantmaking decisions
- Combine rigorous evidence review, cost-effectiveness modeling, and thoughtful judgment to direct funding to the most cost-effective global health and poverty alleviation programs
- Set research priorities by sifting through countless questions and honing in on those that matter most for allocating hundreds of millions of dollars
- Communicate externally about GiveWell's work and mentor/advise other team members

What makes you a great fit
Required qualifications:
- Quantitatively-oriented advanced degrees and substantial relevant experience using empirical tools to make rigorous, evidence-based decisions (typically 5-10 years post-grad work experience)
- Abnormally curious with strong truth-seeking orientation and willingness to interrogate work while being open to scrutiny
- Ability to think about value judgments, background knowledge, and strategic commitments that undergird research work
- Strong communication skills with careful attention to confidence levels and ability to moderate directness when communicating externally

- Location-based salary: NYC or San Francisco Bay Area: $226,800; All other U.S. locations: $205,600; International: Similar to "all other U.S. locations" salary based on historical exchange rates
