(Senior) Research Associate, Protein Sciences

Core responsibilities:

• Support recombinant protein production at FL109 with a focus on expression, purification, and characterization of challenging protein targets
• Build robust purification workflows and characterization assays that directly feed data into next-generation computational models
• Work at the intersection of protein biochemistry, structural biology, and AI-driven technology development
• Generate high-throughput, high-quality data for cryo-EM-ready samples including membrane proteins

This role creates positive change by working at the intersection of protein biochemistry, structural biology, and AI-driven technology development to transform how we see biology, with potential applications in human health and sustainability.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry or related field with minimum 2 years post-baccalaureate experience in academic or industry laboratory
• Hands-on experience in recombinant protein expression and purification including DNA construct design, transformation/transfection, and chromatographic techniques
• Proficiency with ÄKTA systems and UNICORN software for protein purification
• Experience implementing protein characterization and binding assays (ELISA, BLI, enzymatic activity)
• Familiarity with analytical techniques for protein quality assessment (flow cytometry, size-exclusion chromatography, dynamic light scattering, thermostability assays)
• Ability to document work in ELN and maintain electronic LIMS
