Role: Verité seeks a Senior Program Director to play a leadership role in the organization’s enterprise human rights due diligence (HRDD) consulting practice. This is a senior position, suitable for someone with expertise and networks in the field of business and human rights, and deep knowledge of corporate practices, management systems, and accountability frameworks. This hire will contribute to guiding the organization’s overall strategy related to HRDD, and is expected to generate, oversee, and implement projects focused on HRDD and social impact for corporate clients across a range of industries and geographies, with an emphasis on manufacturing and other formal employment sectors. The role will also provide strategic and technical guidance on HRDD for Verité’s other practice areas, including HRDD-related consulting and capacity-building for governments, civil society, and worker organizations. Key Responsibilities Program direction: As part of a senior-level team, contribute to shaping the organization’s strategic approach to HRDD across prioritized sectors and geographies. Ensure that worker perspectives and priorities, gender equity, and locally grounded insights are centered in HRDD practices, and that programs align with relevant international laws and frameworks (e.g., UNGPs, OECD Guidelines, EU CSDDD, EU CSRD, ILO conventions). Practice group leadership and oversight: In collaboration with other senior colleagues on the corporate consulting team, develop and advance specific objectives for Verité HRDD programming. Provide support and quality control for all projects implemented within the Enterprise HRDD practice group, ensuring successful performance and financial viability, in accordance with organizational guidelines and protocols. Support organizational budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation for HRDD programs. Project delivery: Act as a senior consultant to Verité clients, leading and overseeing project design, management, staffing, and implementation. Ensure consistency and high standards in all deliverables, working both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional and regional colleagues as part of a team to deliver complex projects. Client management: Manage all aspects of client relationships for assigned clients and projects, and monitor trends and challenges in client relationships across the organizational enterprise-level HRDD consulting portfolio, advising colleagues on opportunities as means for improvement. Business development: Contribute regularly to organizational business development by identifying emerging opportunities and promoting awareness of Verité’s work through networking and public engagements such as webinars and blog posts. Support preparation of proposals, client presentations, and statements of work, in collaboration with cross-functional and regional colleagues and senior leadership. Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with corporate clients, investors, voluntary standards organizations, unions, and NGOs. Technical leadership: Serve as a senior subject matter expert within Verité on HRDD and labor rights in global companies and supply chains. Track and stay current on industry trends and leading practices in HRDD to identify opportunities to drive innovation in Verité’s strategies and services. As part of a senior-level team, contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of organizational HRDD frameworks, tools, and supporting guidance. Thought leadership: Contribute to the broader field through publications, presentations, and policy engagement. Develop white papers, technical briefs, and other written communications on HRDD topics. Represent Verité as a subject-matter expert in high-level meetings, industry and multi-stakeholder forums on business and human rights, conferences, and other public events. Team development: Mentor junior and mid-level staff, providing guidance on technical content and deliverable design, feedback on drafts, and opportunities for professional development related to HRDD. Oversee and support direct and indirect reports. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ethical practice. Monitoring, evaluation, and learning: Lead development of metrics and evaluation systems to assess impact, in collaboration with colleagues. Promote learning, knowledge-sharing, and adoption of best practices across the organization. Required qualifications & specific competencies Advanced degree in human rights, business, law, public policy, international development, labor studies, or a similarly relevant field. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in human rights, labor rights, ESG consulting, responsible sourcing, supply chain sustainability, or similar field. Demonstrated leadership in HRDD programs and frameworks. Demonstrated experience in the private sector, or working in a collaborative manner with the private sector, on implementation of programs or projects related to labor rights/labor standards, HRDD, and social impact in global supply chains. Expert-level knowledge of topics such as HRDD methodologies; current regulatory, assurance, and reporting frameworks; key tools, references, and data sources; global patterns of human rights risk; labor issues in different kinds of workplaces and industries; ethical recruitment and labor supply chains; grievance mechanisms and remediation. Proven success overseeing complex global projects, with strong leadership experience managing diverse, international teams. Fluent, clear, and concise writing in English, demonstrating excellent analytical skills and clear communication of complex topics to varied audiences; excellent verbal communication skills. Professional level competency in at least one additional language strongly preferred. Required general competencies: Expertise in labor rights and labor standards. Strong personal commitment to Verité's mission and related social justice objectives. Professional competency and/or personal experience thinking and working effectively across a broad range of perspectives and experiences*, including the diverse marginalized populations impacted by Verité’s mission.
