Job Description

  • Strategy & Discovery: Lead customer discovery and feasibility studies to validate high-value use cases in CivGov, Commercial, and D&I, ensuring all development is anchored in addressable market needs.
  • Technical Translation: Partner deeply with Engineering and Data Science to decompose complex vertical requirements into detailed technical specifications, user stories, and prioritized backlog items.
  • Agile Execution: Act as the primary Engineering liaison for the pod, managing sprint planning and backlog grooming to balance feature delivery with technical debt management.
  • Solution Building Blocks: Define and deliver reusable "building blocks" within the Planet Platform that allow us to scale solutions across multiple customers rather than building one-offs.
  • Commercial Enablement: Collaborate with Product Marketing and Sales to package technical capabilities into clear business narratives that demonstrate ROI to non-technical buyers.
  • Ecosystem Growth: Build relationships with external partners and government agencies to identify opportunities for collaboration and scale.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, ideally within Earth Observation or geospatial analytics.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field.
  • Experience launching "solution" products (bundles of data, analytics, and services) rather than just standalone features.
  • Ability to translate complex vertical needs into clear engineering tasks and user outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of vertical market dynamics (e.g., government procurement, supply chains) and experience assessing market size/viability.
  • Managing end-to-end product lifecycles and navigating ambiguity in fast-paced environments.
