Senior Product Designer (Design Lead)

• Own the design KPIs rolling up to the north star "delight" and define, measure, and drive delightful user experiences
• Conduct user research to understand users' mental models and become the authority on user experience architecture
• Work with product teams to offer ideas in discovery and designs in delivery, holding the cross-team view of the user experience
• Monitor critical user flows, clean up design bugs, and raise the design bar across the company through coaching and design systems

This role helps democratize access to academic support by designing delightful experiences for UPchieve's free tutoring platform, directly contributing to closing the college enrollment gap for low-income students and providing equal opportunities for upward mobility.

• 5+ years of software product design experience, including UX/UI or service design
• Experience thriving in a startup environment with minimal structure
• Experience working embedded within product and engineering teams, shipping real products (ideally education technology or marketplace products)
• Experience with human-centered design methods and usability testing
• Experience with or strong interest in cognitive psychology, learning science, or human-computer interaction
• Experience building and maintaining a design system for a suite of related products
• Enough frontend skill (with AI assistance) to maintain a component library or willingness to learn

Remote-first team located across the U.S. with in-person gatherings 2x/year (all-staff retreat and department offsite). Full-time means 40 hrs/wk with emphasis on work-life balance. Team values diversity of experiences & perspectives, with majority being people of color and many having low-income or nontraditional educational backgrounds.
