Senior Policy & Research Associate

Responsibilities / What You'll Do

• Track state climate policy data across the country to maintain an up-to-date landscape of state climate policy
• Support the State Climate Policy Dashboard by compiling and updating policy information, resources, and model rules
• Conduct climate policy research to support CXC's research agenda, including data center regulation and emissions modeling
• Generate weekly summaries on policy developments and support drafting policy updates for CXC's newsletter

This role supports Climate XChange's mission to achieve a rapid and equitable transition towards a zero-emissions economy by advancing state climate policy through data tracking, research, and maintaining the State Climate Policy Dashboard that serves over 15,000 state actors.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental or public policy, environmental science, political science, economics, or related field
• 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in climate and energy policy, public policy, state government, research and/or advocacy work
• Experience with climate policy topics such as governance & equity, electricity, buildings, transportation, industry, clean energy, or natural resources
• Proficient policy literacy and ability to read and interpret legislative and regulatory text
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

Total compensation includes health, dental and vision benefits, professional development opportunities, generous paid time off and family and medical leave policies, 17 paid holidays, a technology stipend, and a flexible schedule. Salary range: $59,000 to $62,500 based on experience.
