ABOUT ADDITION Addition is an intervention - a group of organizers, strategists and storytellers seeking to organize and make meaning with working class people untouched by today’s organizing sector. POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Organizer is responsible for helping to train, coach and build emerging teams of volunteer leaders who are organizing working class communities to build a coordinated national strategy to fight back against attempts to decimate public health care, food assistance and education programs and build an economy where everyone is treated with dignity and fairness. RESPONSIBILITIES Coach and support at least ten teams of volunteer leaders to execute strategy to organize hundreds of thousands of working class Americans who are impacted by devastating cuts to health care, food assistance and education programs; Provide ongoing training and organizing support to twenty teams across a dozen states who are build an outreach and education programs to help working class communities make meaning of the devastating budget cuts and develop public accountability strategies; Work with ‘We The Fighters’ Training Team to help support an ongoing distributed organizing program to engage thousands of volunteers in ongoing public education and outreach and voter engagement programs in 2026. Like all team members - assist with logistics for our in-person events, taking turns round-robin style. Provide support for ongoing training programs, including our Working Class Campaign training series; Help to tell the story of working class leaders who are organizing to protect their communities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: 10 or more years of community organizing experience preferred. Experience organizing in working class communities Campaigns and Organizing leadership: Ability to plan, execute, and adapt campaign strategies in changing contexts. This includes strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Training and Leadership Development: Extensive experience training and developing working class community members in organizing, power building, community advocacy, voter engagement and influencing policy with a focus on helping to make the complicated simple. Experience with developing training curriculum around the fundamentals of community organizing, including written materials and toolkits. Experience with digital organizing including texting, predictive dialers, and other digital platforms Systems-based approach: Familiarity and comfort with systems-based approaches to change. Demonstrated deep commitment to racial, gender and economic justice. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, distilling complex ideas into clear, compelling messages. Good conversation and interpersonal communication skills. Interpersonal skills: Experience building relationships and engaging effectively with people from various generational, ethnic, racial, socio-economic, educational, and religious backgrounds, as well as people of various physical abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities Basic computing skills (Google Suite, Zoom, ability to learn and utilize organizational database functions for organizing). Experience using social media for organizing is a plus. Experience using and/or the capacity to learn to effectively use mass communications tools such as social media, texting platforms, predictive dialers, CRM systems, and direct mail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to meeting people where they are.
