Title: Senior Manager, Operations Department: Operations Reports To: Chief Operating Officer FLSA Status: Exempt Union Status: Non-Union Employment Type: Full Time Location: Remote with travel to the Boston Office 1-3 times per month, some travel within the U.S. as needed Position Summary The Senior Manager, Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. This position supports organizational change and includes the review, design, implementation, and monitoring of the organization’s infrastructure and cross-cutting processes to support CC today and in the future. Key Responsibilities Support organizational change and strategic planning initiatives in partnership with CEO and COO Support COO in coordinating without side counsel to reduce legal and financial risk and ensure full compliance with labor and employment laws and IRS regulations Oversee the administration and day-to-day operations of the organization’s physical office space Direct day-to-day organizational operations, ensuring effective systems, policies, and workflows that support programmatic impact and staff experience. Lead and continuously improve the organization’s contracting and procurement processes for external consultants and vendors, ensuring clear scopes of work, compliance with funding requirements, cost-effectiveness, and timely execution. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication across teams, strengthening alignment between departments and supporting transparent decision-making processes Required Qualifications 5 to 7 years of leadership experience in operations, nonprofit management or a related field Project management experience, including cross-functional collaboration and delivering projects on time and within budget Demonstrated experience leading organizational operations in a complex environment, including policy development, compliance oversight, and systems implementation Proficiency in operations management, including process improvement, workflow optimization, and cross-functional coordination Experience creating and successful implementation of policies and systems to improve team/project functioning Experience managing external vendors and consultants, including contracting, procurement processes, and scope oversight Strong knowledge of nonprofit governance, labor and employment laws, IRS regulations, and federal and state compliance requirements Experience working in a unionized environment Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree (e.g., MPA, MBA, MSW, JD, or related field) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Core Competencies Exceptional organization, written and oral communication skills Ability to oversee multiple tasks with high attention to detail Handles sensitive personnel, legal, and organizational matters with integrity, confidentiality, and steady judgment Ability to serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leadership, providing candid counsel, data-informed recommendations, and implementation leadership Supervisory Responsibilities The Senior Operations Manager supervises the Operations Associate. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is a remote, office-based position performed from a home or remote workspace using standard office equipment and technology. Periodic travel to the Boston Office will be required. The role involves extended periods of sitting, regular computer use, and virtual communication.
