Mission
What you will drive
- Develop and implement governance systems for iNaturalist's volunteer moderator and curator community, including decision-making frameworks, training, and support pathways.
- Serve as primary staff point of contact for moderation escalation and curator support, ensuring consistent and scalable community-led operations.
- Define metrics and partner with product/engineering to improve systems that reduce reliance on staff intervention.

Profile
What makes you a great fit
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience (or Associate's with 7+ years).
- Demonstrated experience in community management, governance development, content moderation, or volunteer leadership.
- Strong judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes situations and ability to communicate difficult decisions clearly and fairly.
- Familiarity with nature or mission-driven volunteer communities; experience with distributed online communities (e.g., Wikimedia, OpenStreetMap) preferred.
