Position Title: Senior Grant Writer Duration: March 2026. This is a contract position Schedule and Location As negotiated. Hours will vary by grant cycle. Remote Position Summary The Grant Writer is responsible for managing the organization’s grant development workflow, with a focus on grant-related project management and proposal development. This role emphasizes project management and coordination while also performing grant research, proposal development, submission tracking, and reporting. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual with at least 10-20 years of grant-writing experience who is willing to share their expertise to help SVYCA expand and support youth climate leadership development. Responsibilities Grant Pipeline & Workflow Management Manage the end-to-end grant development process from opportunity identification through submission and reporting. Maintain accurate grant pipeline data, deadlines, and workflow stages in the organization’s existing tracking systems. Create and manage grant project timelines, task assignments, and internal checklists. Proactively coordinate with staff to gather required inputs. Grant Research & Proposal Development Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities from government and non-government agencies. Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals and letters of inquiry. Maintain a strong knowledge of the organization’s programs and initiatives. Adapt organizational narratives and data to funder guidelines. Ensure submissions meet quality standards and deadlines. Work with staff to gather letters of support as needed. Grant Tracking & Reporting Track submission outcomes, awards, and declinations Coordinate preparation of required grant reports Maintain organized grant documentation in shared systems (like Monday.com) Reporting & Accountability Provide weekly progress updates on pipeline status, submissions, and upcoming deadlines Ensure accurate and consistent use of organizational tracking and reporting tools Qualifications Experience applying for and winning grants from governmental and private foundations Ability to work in Google Suites, Monday.com, and Slack Excellent knowledge of all aspects of grant proposal writing Excellent communication, writing, and time management skills Excellent research skills and ability to synthesize information into easy-to-read and understand materials Enthusiastic to work on remote team projects asynchronously Ability to manage deadlines independently in a contract role Attention to detail Supervision and Evaluation Grant Writer will work directly with SVYCA Executive Director Ze Kun-Li, Program Director Christine Zack, and Communication Consultant Erin Zimmerman. Confidentiality The employee agrees to maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive or proprietary information encountered during the course of the contracted position. Compensation The pay range is $80-125 per hour, depending on prior experience and skills. Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found and will be considered on a rolling basis.
