Senior Flood Modeller

Core responsibilities:

• Developing and checking hydraulic models using packages like Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM for Flood Alleviation Schemes, Flood Risk Assessments, and reservoir flood studies
• Developing water quality models using industry standard software such as MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM
• Conceptualising and scoping modelling approaches with consideration of risks and opportunities
• Undertaking and checking hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP
• Leading and inputting into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts
• Mentoring staff within the team to support their professional development
• Building relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines
• Using AECOM's project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to clients within agreed programme and budget

This role helps clients deliver flood risk management projects that protect communities from flooding, contributing to climate resilience and environmental protection through water resources management.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Experience developing and checking hydraulic models using industry-standard software packages
• Experience with water quality modelling using standard software
• Ability to conceptualise and scope modelling approaches with risk assessment
• Experience with hydrological assessments and relevant methodologies
• Experience leading and contributing to tender processes
• Ability to mentor junior staff and support professional development
• Strong client relationship building skills
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines affecting water services
• Experience using project management systems to deliver projects on time and budget
