Senior Editor, Social Studies

• Lead editorial production for developing a state-specific K-8 civics curriculum, including planning, outlining, and managing project schedules and deliverables.
• Manage freelance writers, coordinate with subject matter experts, copyeditors, and production teams to ensure quality and alignment with standards.
• Review and edit manuscripts and page proofs for student readers, teacher guides, workbooks, and assessments.
• Contribute to other social studies and humanities curriculum projects as needed.

This role directly contributes to creating a coherent, knowledge-building civics curriculum for K-8 students, promoting excellence and equity in education by ensuring all students have access to high-quality instructional materials.

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, or Humanities.
• Five or more years of experience developing, reviewing, and writing social studies curriculum for Grades K-12, including civics content.
• Demonstrated experience leading curriculum development projects, managing timelines, and coordinating design/layout and writing/editing.
• Strong organizational, project management, and editorial skills; knowledge of Chicago-style editing.

Full-time exempt position, remote work, 40 hours per week. Salary not specified.
