(Senior) Climate Scientist (f/m/d)

Core responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining analytical pipelines to translate emissions and scenario inputs into physical climate indicators using reduced-complexity climate models and climate-model emulators
• Developing and maintaining the Climate Action Tracker global aggregation and pathway extension system for emission gap and global warming assessments
• Developing scientific tools based on reduced-complexity models to assess emission pathways and mitigation options for all greenhouse gases
• Maintaining state-of-the-art historical data and climate system calibrations for reduced-complexity climate models used by Climate Analytics

Your work will be central to flagship projects like the Climate Action Tracker and National Pathways Explorer, contributing to the organization's broader work on 1.5°C overshoot and informing international climate negotiations and national strategies.

Required qualifications and skills:

• PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience in climate/atmospheric/earth-system science or closely related field
• Minimum 4-6 years of relevant work experience in physical climate science, emulation and scenario assessment
• Working knowledge of reduced-complexity climate models and climate-model emulators, temperature assessment methodologies and climate modelling for deep mitigation pathways
• Proven strong programming skills in Python or closely related language (MatLab) with experience in collaborative coding environments using version control and unit testing
