Senior Backend Engineer

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that improve Via's platform.
• Own backend features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and maintenance.
• Define infrastructure and standards for engineering teams across the company.
• Research and recommend new technologies for our engineering teams.

You'll take a critical part in our mission to shape the future of transportation, affecting tens of thousands of riders daily worldwide, and help reduce humanity's collective environmental footprint through modern and efficient public transportation systems.

• 5+ years of experience building robust backend or full-stack software systems.
• Expertise in developing and maintaining APIs, distributed systems, and efficient database architectures.
• Familiar with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
• Skilled in system design, debugging, and performance optimization.

• Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year (final salary determined by experience, knowledge, and skills; does not include equity or variable pay)
