Sector Economic Advisor

• Undertake and lead cutting-edge research in climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk management, and urban development to support innovative programs and policy dialogues.
• Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for analytical work, ensuring high standards across all knowledge products and strategic documents.
• Build and maintain research networks with universities, think tanks, and external partners to strengthen engagement on priority sectoral challenges.
• Represent the Sector on Bank-wide committees and mentor junior staff on research and analytical matters.

This role creates positive change by advancing sustainability and resilience in Latin America and the Caribbean through research and policy guidance on climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk management, and urban development, directly contributing to the IDB's mission of improving lives in the region.

• Master's degree or equivalent (PhD strongly preferred) in Economics, Public Policy, or relevant fields.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, with recognized leadership and authority in the field.
• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams in complex projects, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish (oral and written); French and Portuguese are a plus.
