Research Software Engineer

Core responsibilities:

• Contribute to C-Star, an open-source toolkit for high-fidelity physical-biogeochemical models that are robust, user-friendly, reproducible, and auditable
• Streamline the entire process of running a large ocean model, from data gathering and transformations to distributed, automated model execution and result extraction
• Utilize technical skills including workflow management, HPC paradigms, complex data transformations, scaled data engineering, schema design, cloud/HPC hybrid environments, and DevOps

This role creates positive change by developing science-backed tools for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) that quantify carbon removal and assess ecosystem impacts with scientific credibility, supporting high-integrity carbon dioxide removal markets.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Strong foundation in Python software development
• Experience with one or more supporting skill sets (workflow management, HPC paradigms like MPI, complex data transformations, scaled data engineering, schema design, cloud/HPC hybrid environments, DevOps)
• Ability to grow into new technical areas as needed
• Mid-level to senior experience level
