Research and Communications Associate or Coordinator

• Draft and coordinate external communications such as outreach materials, press releases, and educational content.
• Conduct research to support strategic goals and maintain knowledge of air pollution issues and policies.
• Manage social media accounts and support coalition meetings, activities, and events.
• Perform administrative duties including scheduling, note-taking, and general support.

This role directly supports efforts to restore clean air to the San Joaquin Valley, prioritizing communities of color and low-income areas disproportionately affected by air pollution, thereby advancing environmental justice and public health.

• 2-3 years of relevant work experience for Associate level; 4-5 years for Coordinator level.
• Strong initiative, organization, and accountability; passion for environmental justice.
• Excellent command of English, public speaking, writing, and editing skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and online collaborative tools like Google Drive.

Pay range: $21-25/hour for Associate, $26-30/hour for Coordinator. Position starts at 15-20 hours per week for a 6-month term with potential for growth. Virtual primary workplace with travel within San Joaquin Valley and occasionally Sacramento. Reliable transportation required.

The Central Valley Air Quality Coalition (CVAQ) is a partnership of environmental justice and public health organizations working to restore clean air to the San Joaquin Valley, with a focus on disproportionately impacted communities of color and low-income areas.
