R&D Principal Engineer - IDC

• Design, develop, review, refactor, and maintain Power System software with quality and performance in mind, analyzing customer engineering, business, and software requirements to propose effective solutions.
• Collaborate on planning, development, and testing to meet definition of done criteria, supporting software releases and assisting onsite/support teams with problem analysis and defect resolution.
• Identify and manage risks for schedule and quality, support and mentor junior developers, and use agile development methodologies with active participation in all team duties.
• Travel for short periods to support customers globally, train others on testing methodologies, and ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent with emphasis on Power System and software skills (Ph.D. is a plus), plus 10-15 years of experience in Power System software development, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated programming skills in high-performance languages like C, FORTRAN, or C++, with strong knowledge of power system modelling, simulation, analysis, operation, optimization, and numerical analysis.
• Familiarity with Automatic Generation Control, Economic Dispatch, Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, and Power Systems Simulators, and hands-on experience with Generation Control, EMS applications, and Network analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile environment, interact effectively with team members and customers, and proficiency in spoken and written English.
