Quantitative Scientist (Staff / Sr Staff) - Power Markets

Core responsibilities:

• Use research insights to shape product direction and deliver innovative client solutions by influencing product and engineering roadmaps through presentation of research insights, experimental results, and trading strategy backtest metrics
• Conduct trading performance analytics to investigate driving factors in trading over/under performance, identifying learnings, and drive continuous strategy improvement
• Research, develop, backtest, and deploy novel quantitative trading signals and strategies in the energy domain by identifying sources of trading alpha and executing hands-on experimental models
• Lead short to medium term research projects that advance the state-of-the-art in quantitative research techniques as applied to energy asset management and financial trading

This role helps build an AI operating system for the power sector that enables a cleaner, more resilient energy future by developing quantitative trading strategies that accelerate the energy transition and drive positive impact for clients.

Required qualifications:

• Passion for clean energy and fighting climate change
• Degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, operations research, engineering, or related quantitative discipline
• 2+ years experience in quantitative research & analytics or systematic financial trading in US Power Markets
• 2+ years experience with Python and computational science tools (numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow)
• Experience in electricity and energy domain (e.g., wholesale market prices)
• Experience developing, releasing, and tracking performance of quantitative trading strategies in production
• Experience communicating mathematical concepts and data-driven insights to technical and non-technical audiences
