About the Role
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the overall operational management, administrative oversight, and contract compliance for an upcoming media development program. The project focuses on fostering cross-border collaborative journalism across the MENA region and advancing evidence-based, survivor-centered reporting on gender-based violence (GBV) in Iraq.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight & Administration: Lead the operational execution of the project across both components (Cross-Border Collaborative Journalism and Evidence-Based Media Training), ensuring all milestones are met on schedule.
- MiCT HQ Coordination & Reporting: Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and MiCT HQ; maintain continuous alignment with the MiCT HQ project team and submit regular progress updates and compliance reports directly to HQ leadership
- Contract & Financial Administration: Oversee sub-grant administration, manage expert contracts, process consultant and participant stipends, and maintain strict financial compliance and documentation in coordination with MiCT HQ finance.
- Risk Management & Security: Monitor political, legal, and operational risks across project contexts. Implement robust safety protocols, data protection standards, and "Do No Harm" principles for participating journalists, keeping HQ informed of emerging security developments.
- Team Supervision: Direct and support the project team, including local coordinators, trainers, mentors, and M&E experts.
- Reporting & Quality Assurance: Oversee the collation of activity verification data, monitoring outputs, and draft comprehensive narrative progress and final project evaluation reports for MiCT HQ review.
Key Deliverables
- Detailed Project Implementation & Financial Tracking Plan, approved by MiCT HQ.
- Fully executed sub-grant agreements and consultant contracts.
- Monthly progress reports submitted to MiCT HQ tracking activity milestones against timeline targets.
- Final Consolidated Project Narrative and Administrative Report delivered to MiCT HQ.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Advanced degree in International Development, Media Studies, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Minimum 5โ7 years of experience managing international media development or human rights projects in Iraq and/or the MENA region.
- Demonstrated track record in managing donor-funded projects, sub-grants, and remote/freelance teams.
- Deep knowledge of press freedom challenges, media safety, and ethical reporting standards in politically constrained environments.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
This freelance role is project-based, contingent on the grant, to be implemented between September 2026 and February 2027.
