Programme Specialist, Populaton Policy

Core responsibilities:

• Oversee project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives, and national development frameworks for UNFPA activities in population and development
• Provide strategic direction and technical leadership in developing population-related policy documents and ensure coherence among different interventions
• Manage the Project to strengthen equitable access to integrated socio-health services in Senegal for people living with disabilities
• Coordinate technical and strategic support for the SWEDD program (Sahel Women's Empowerment and Demographic Dividend) in Senegal

This role contributes to UNFPA's transformative results of ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices, while accelerating progress toward ICPD and SDG goals in the Decade of Action leading up to 2030.

Required qualifications:

• Master's Degree with 5 years of experience in relevant field
• Fluency in French and English languages
• Programme management experience with ability to oversee teams and establish collaborative relationships with government, donor agencies, and civil society
• Substantive technical expertise in population issues, demographic analysis, and integration of population dynamics into development planning

Compensation and conditions:

• Full-time position with fixed-term contract duration of 1 year
• Grade NOC level position within UN system
• Non-rotational assignment based in Dakar, Senegal
