Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to Acumen West Africa, including compliance with Nigerian and Canadian laws for program activities
  • Review and draft contracts for program activities, covering charitable and commercial issues including intellectual property, data privacy, and employment matters
  • Support deal documentation and coordination for early-stage equity, debt, and other investments in West Africa
  • Implement and maintain program processes to ensure compliance with Canadian laws and donor requirements

This role supports a program that aims to impact approximately 400 early-stage social enterprises in the African green economy, creating and improving dignified work opportunities for women and youth.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience practicing transactional law and supporting legal projects across various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with legal issues specific to Nigeria; ability to learn Canadian legal requirements
  • Strong organizational, project management, and stakeholder management skills
  • Permanently authorized to work in Nigeria with a license to practice law
