Job Description
The Product Architect with Engineering Domain Experience will be responsible for defining the architecture of IT products and automation platforms used by AEC engineers across design and delivery programs.
This role combines product architecture expertise with a deep understanding of engineering design workflows across disciplines such as piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and BIM.
The Product Architect will ensure that internally developed and integrated platforms (including AVEVA, Autodesk, Trimble, and other engineering systems) are scalable, secure, interoperable, and aligned with enterprise digital strategy and project execution needs.
This Product Architect role sits at the intersection of software product architecture and engineering domain expertise. You will translate complex engineering workflows into scalable, maintainable product architectures, ensuring that the tools and platforms your team builds genuinely solve the day-to-day challenges of plant, infrastructure, and energy engineering professionals.
Experience with AVEVA systems (E3D, Engineering, Diagrams, Global) is considered a strong advantage, as many of our clients and internal teams operate within AVEVA-centric delivery environments.
Your new team
Our team culture is crucial to us; that's why we take time daily to exchange ideas and discuss our work priorities. We support each other when facing challenges and foster a strong team spirit. We aim to learn and grow continuously from one another.
We value diversity, and although we're not perfect, we regularly engage in open discussions about how we can improve in this area. Our current hybrid work approach focuses on adapting to different needs, including increased flexibility that works best for our global teams and individuals, with as much autonomy as possible.
Your new role
As the Product Architect with Engineering Domain Experience, you will play a strategic leadership role in shaping digital engineering products and automation frameworks. You will
- Define the target architecture and roadmap for engineering digital products and automation platforms.
- Translate engineering business requirements into scalable technical architecture.
- Lead solution design for multi-region, cloud-enabled engineering platforms.
- Ensure integration between engineering authoring tools (AVEVA, Autodesk, Trimble, Bentley, etc.) and enterprise systems (DMS, ERP, PLM, Data Lakes).
- Guide DevOps, CI/CD, and release management for engineering products.
- Provide architectural oversight for AI, Digital Twin, and data-centric engineering initiatives.
- Act as the technical authority for product scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Support modernization of legacy engineering systems into cloud-native architectures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Engineering, IT, Cloud, Cybersecurity, and Data teams.
- Guide the planning, setup, and evolution of Engineering platform environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Coordinate with engineering, IT, cloud, and digital delivery teams to align platform design with operational requirements and business priorities.
- Oversee cross-functional technical discussions, ensuring alignment between platform architecture, engineering standards, and digital workflows.
- Drive architectural governance, ensuring systems are deployed, maintained, and evolved in line with organizational quality, security, and compliance standards.
Areas of responsibility
Product & Solution Architecture
- Define high-level and low-level architecture designs (HLD/LLD).
- Establish reference architectures for engineering platforms.
- Design multi-tier, distributed, and hybrid cloud architectures (Azure and GCP).
- Define resiliency, HA/DR, and multi-region deployment strategies.
- Define data architecture for engineering data (3D models, metadata, documents).
Engineering Domain Integration
- Understand and model engineering workflows across:
- 3D Modelling (Plant, Structural, Electrical)
- P&ID / Schematics
- BIM & Digital Delivery
- Data-centric Engineering
- Ensure product architecture supports:
- Model federation
- Clash detection workflows
- Revision and change management
- Engineering data validation
- Align with ISO 19650, CFIHOS, RDSPP, and industry data standards.
- Drive interoperability between:
- AVEVA
- Autodesk (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD)
- Trimble tools
- Enterprise DMS and analytics platforms.
Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture
- Architect engineering workloads in Azure and GCP
- Define GPU-based compute strategy for 3D engineering applications.
- Design VDI/Citrix/Cloud workstation environments.
- Implement performance optimization and global access strategies.
- Ensure secure network design, identity federation, and zero-trust principles.
Automation & AI Enablement
- Design automation frameworks for:
- Model validation
- Rule-based design checks
- Metadata extraction
- Engineering quality dashboards
- Enable AI/ML-based use cases:
- Drawing intelligence
- Engineering assistant copilots
- Predictive design risk detection
- Integrate digital twin and analytics platforms.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as primary architectural liaison with:
- Engineering leadership
- IT operations
- External product vendors
- Evaluate vendor solutions and perform technical due diligence.
