Principal Gifts Officer I

Core responsibilities:

• Manage an active portfolio of 20-25 principal gift donors and advisors, building relationships through personal visits, phone calls, written contact, events, and engagement with leadership and program staff
• Develop and implement strategies for principal donors and advisors to secure transformative gifts supporting annual revenue and multi-year capital campaign targets
• Build and manage a portfolio of 30-35 principal prospects to qualify them for active engagement and contribution to annual fundraising targets
• Contribute to creating personalized funding collateral, budgets, and correspondence that demonstrate opportunity, impact, recognition, and engagement of supporters

This role creates positive change by securing transformative gifts from high-net-worth donors to fund Earthjustice's environmental law work, which protects people's health, preserves wildlife and natural places, advances clean energy, and combats climate change through legal advocacy.

Required qualifications:

• Eight+ years of demonstrated successful experience in major gifts fundraising with focus on prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• Proven experience directly soliciting and closing seven-figure gifts from individuals
• Proven experience in developing and implementing initiatives in support of a multi-million-dollar capital campaign and annual fundraising targets
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM databases
• Skill in absorbing and synthesizing complex program information and translating it into compelling cases for external audiences
