🏢 About Sistema.bio

Sistema.bio is a social enterprise turning agricultural waste into renewable energy and organic fertilizer, directly combating climate change while empowering rural communities. As a B Corp, it combines global impact with a mission-driven culture, making it an inspiring place for designers who want their work to matter beyond aesthetics.

About This Role

This internship offers hands-on experience shaping the visual identity of a global brand, from social media assets to educational materials for farmers. You'll collaborate across teams and countries, creating content that bridges sustainability and agriculture—perfect for building a portfolio with real-world impact.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a check-in on Slack with the global marketing team, then you’ll spend the morning designing Instagram carousels and Reels about biogas benefits. After lunch, you could edit a short video testimonial from a farmer, update a landing page in WordPress, and join a creative brainstorm with colleagues from Mexico and India.

🎯 Who Sistema.bio Is Looking For

  • An active student in Graphic Design, Communication, Marketing, or UX/UI with a strong portfolio showcasing visual storytelling and multimedia skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) plus Canva and WordPress, with intermediate-advanced English and Spanish.
  • Passionate about sustainability and social impact, with the ability to translate complex environmental concepts into clear, engaging visuals for diverse audiences (farmers, investors, general public).
  • A self-starter comfortable with remote collaboration, quick turnaround times, and eager to learn from a global team.

📝 Tips for Applying to Sistema.bio

1

Tailor your portfolio to include examples of social media graphics, short video edits (Reels/Shorts), and any work related to environmental or agricultural themes.

2

Highlight your bilingual proficiency by submitting a cover letter in both Spanish and English, or by including a link to a bilingual project.

3

Show familiarity with Sistema.bio’s brand: mention specific campaigns or products (e.g., their biodigester) and suggest how you could visually improve their educational materials.

4

Demonstrate your workflow efficiency: mention experience with templates, batch content creation, or project management tools like Trello/Asana.

5

Include a link to a Canva or WordPress project you’ve designed, as these are specifically listed in the requirements.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

🔍 Research Before Applying

To stand out, make sure you've researched:

  • Read Sistema.bio’s impact reports to understand their key metrics (e.g., tons of CO2 reduced, number of farmers reached).
  • Explore their current social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) to analyze their visual style and identify gaps you could fill.
  • Look up their product page for the biodigester and biofertilizer to understand the technology you’ll be communicating.
  • Review any existing educational materials (if available) to see how they currently explain complex topics to farmers.

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 How would you design a social media campaign to explain how a biodigester works to a farmer with limited technical background?
2 Describe a time you had to create visual content under a tight deadline. How did you prioritize and manage your time?
3 How do you ensure brand consistency across different formats (Instagram, landing pages, printed materials) when working remotely?
4 Can you walk us through your experience with WordPress? How would you optimize a landing page for user engagement?
5 What sustainable design practices do you incorporate (e.g., reducing file sizes, using eco-friendly colors)?

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Submitting a generic portfolio without any work related to sustainability, agriculture, or educational content—tailor it to the role.
  • Ignoring the language requirement: even if your English is functional, show you can write in both languages (e.g., bilingual portfolio captions).
  • Overlooking remote work etiquette: don’t mention needing constant supervision or rigid hours; emphasize flexibility and self-motivation.
