Mission
What you will drive
As a Policy Manager at J-PAL Global, your primary responsibilities include:
- Sector/Pillar Management and Supervision (45%): Lead one or more of J-PAL's sectors or pillars, working with academic Chairs to set strategy, draft policy materials, organize events for policymakers, oversee research funds, steward donor relationships, and supervise/mentor associate-level staff.
- Evidence Communication and Dissemination (30%): Build relationships with key partners worldwide, present J-PAL's work externally, write publications translating economic research into policy lessons, create materials for policymakers/NGOs/donors, and conduct research for policy memos and evidence synthesis publications.
- Other (25%): Support J-PAL's overall mission through various activities including supporting functional teams, policy partnerships, professional development, and serving as liaison between J-PAL Global and regional offices.

What makes you a great fit
The ideal candidate for this Policy Manager position possesses:
- Education: Master's degree in economics, public policy, or closely related field with coursework in microeconomics, econometrics, and development economics.
- Experience: 6+ years of relevant professional experience, including at least 1 year working in a developing country. Experience in public health research or working with policymakers in low-income countries is valued for the Health sector position.
- Skills: Comfort with intermediate-level economics and econometrics (especially randomized evaluation methodology), proficiency with Google Suite and Salesforce, fluency in English, and strong writing/communication skills.
- Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, strategic thinker, able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, culturally competent, passionate about international development policy, and willing to travel approximately 10% of the time.
