Policy Analyst

Primary responsibilities include:

• Conducting policy research
• Drafting and analyzing legislative text
• Monitoring Congressional and Executive Branch policy activity
• Drafting and editing memos and other written products
• Collaborating with other Commission staff to execute on Commissioner-driven priorities and Congressional requests

This role supports the Commission's mission to advise Congress on how advancements in emerging biotechnology shape national defense activities, helping maintain U.S. global leadership in biotech innovation and national security.

Ideal candidates will have:

• At least 3-5 years of legislative or policy experience relevant to national security and/or emerging technology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills
• Aptitude for finding solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

The expected annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $100,000 with eligibility for standard Federal benefits.

The National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology is a bipartisan legislative advisory commission charged with conducting a thorough review of how advancements in emerging biotechnology and related technologies will shape current and future activities of the Department of Defense, providing policy recommendations to Congress.
