Mission

What you will drive

The Campaign Strategist for People Over Pollution oversees implementation of the following work:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive issue advocacy and electoral strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals in the campaign's core regions (Louisiana, Ohio River Valley, and Texas)
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, consultants, and key stakeholders to build an advocacy and electoral strategy that supports the mission of the campaign
  • Work closely with other staff who monitor state and local legislative and political developments, including bills, regulations, and initiatives relevant to the goals of the organization and provide strategic guidance and analysis
  • Conduct research and analysis on decision makers and electoral candidates in our regions to inform the strategic planning of the campaign

Profile

What makes you a great fit

Strong candidates will offer:

  • Minimum of six years of experience working in political advocacy, campaign management, or government relations, focusing on environmental or climate-related issues
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful political strategies, including candidate endorsements, issue-based campaigns, and grassroots organizing
  • A strong knowledge of the political landscape in Louisiana, the Ohio River Valley (OH, PA, WV) and/or Texas, including a good understanding of state politics and environmental laws and policy
  • Experience developing voter outreach or advocacy campaigns, including familiarity with tools such as EveryAction and Votebuilder (VAN)

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The position is remote, and routine travel is required to the three regions of the campaign and campaign gatherings. Inside People Over Pollution

People Over Pollution is the 501c(4) arm of the Beyond Petrochemicals Campaign, working to stop the build out of the petrochemical industry and support grassroots advocates fighting petrochemicals. Together with Beyond Petrochemicals, they are drawing on the success of Bloomberg's Beyond Coal and Beyond Carbon campaigns to block the expansion of more than 120 proposed petrochemical projects concentrated in Louisiana, Texas, and the Ohio River Valley.
