About ISPS-US We are redefining psychosis. We are reimagining mental health care. We are ISPS-US. The International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis – United States Chapter (ISPS-US) is a national member organization dedicated to advancing humane, recovery-oriented, and rights-based understandings of psychosis and extreme states. Founded in 1998 as part of the international ISPS network (est. 1956), ISPS-US brings together people with lived experience of psychosis, family members, clinicians, peer specialists, researchers, students, and advocates. We promote psychological, social, cultural, and relational approaches to psychosis that move beyond biomedical reductionism. ISPS-US delivers its mission through: Membership and community building Webinars, workshops, and continuing education Member-led support and interest groups An annual national conference Advocacy on topics such as rights-based approaches to psychosis and comprehensive mental healthcare access Collaboration with ISPS International and allied organizations At the core of our work is the belief that lived experience knowledge is essential to meaningful change, and that progress happens when people with diverse perspectives work together. Position Summary The Operations and Programs Director is a part-time staff position responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations and executing ISPS-US's programmatic vision in close collaboration with the Executive Director. This position is fully remote, 16 hours per week, and reports to the Executive Director. Availability for occasional evening or weekend hours and travel, including attendance at the annual conference (this year in New York City, November 5-8; dates TBC). Qualifications Required Strong alignment with the mission, values, and ethos of ISPS-US Demonstrated experience in nonprofit operations, administration, or organizational coordination Event management experience, including planning and coordinating conferences, multi-session educational programs, or similar events Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills High standard of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work environment Preferred Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, humanities, or equivalent lived and professional experience Experience with CRM databases, member management, or donor systems Experience supporting educational or research-informed projects, including coordinating focus groups or listening sessions and contributing to written summaries or reports Strong experience using Zoom meetings and webinars Familiarity with communication, marketing, and design tools (e.g., Canva, email marketing platforms, basic video editing software) Experience using social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a small organization, balancing structure with flexibility, and contributing across multiple areas. Responsibilities and Duties Organizational Operations & Coordination Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board on operational planning, goal setting, and performance benchmarks Support the development and improvement of operational systems and workflows Uphold organizational policies and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards Programs, Education & Events Manage logistics for the annual conference in collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Committee, including coordination with venues, vendors, AV, hotels, catering, continuing education requirements, and volunteers Coordinate logistics for online educational programming, including Zoom setup, registration, presenter communication, and continuing education documentation Support special educational initiatives, which may include coordinating focus groups or listening sessions and contributing to written summaries or reports Membership, Communications & Engagement Manage member and donor records using the CRM database Support member engagement and delivery of member benefits Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including people with lived experience, clinicians, peer specialists, family members, students, and academics Assist with communications and outreach, including social media content, graphic design, copywriting, basic video editing, website updates, and email communications Collaboration & Relationship Building Build and maintain strong working relationships with board members, officers, committees, volunteers, and ISPS International Support committees and regional branches with logistical and technical assistance Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all organizational activities Additional Duties Perform additional tasks and take on responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director ISPS-US welcomes applicants with lived experience of psychosis or extreme states, as well as family members and supporters. We recognize lived experience as a form of expertise and encourage applicants to draw on professional, volunteer, academic, and lived experience in describing their interest in the role. Benefits Four weeks of Paid Time Off per year Thirteen days of Sick Leave per year Nine paid holidays Flexible schedule Fully remote position $125 per month remote office stipend Compensation & Location $35.34 per hour, 16 hours per week, plus remote office stipend ($30,902.88 p/a total). The successful candidate must be willing to work additional hours during the week of the annual conference. The position is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the United States; candidates based in Pennsylvania and Indiana will be prioritized.
