Nuclear Energy Agency - Socio-Technical Policy Analyst in Radioactive Waste Management & Decommissioning

Core responsibilities:

• Support the work of the Radioactive Waste Management Committee (RWMC) and its sub-groups in delivering their Programme of Work that integrate technical safety requirements with societal expectations, ethical considerations, and governance frameworks
• Contribute to the development of practical solutions for nuclear waste management and decommissioning challenges, including collecting country-specific data, conducting in-depth analyses, organising expert discussions, and preparing high-quality summary reports
• Track and rigorously analyse developments in social science research related to Radioactive Waste Management, encompassing risk perception, community engagement, and long-term stewardship
• Provide technical and organisational support for the meetings of committees and subsidiary bodies, including expert groups and international cooperative projects

This role advances inclusive, adaptive, and technically sound policy frameworks for radioactive waste management and decommissioning, integrating socio-technical approaches to build public trust, foster stakeholder engagement, and ensure transparent decision-making for long-term safety and environmental protection.

Required qualifications:

• Advanced degree in public policy, international affairs, social sciences, engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in radioactive waste management or the nuclear sector
• Minimum of five years of experience in the nuclear sector and socio-technical analysis, preferably in radioactive waste management and decommissioning
• Proven national level and international experience interacting with senior officials and experts from governmental organisations, regulatory authorities and research institutions
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage simultaneously several programme of works with strict deadlines and within budget

Monthly salary starts at 8,098.38 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax. 24-month fixed-term appointment with possibility of renewal to a maximum of 36 months.
