National Organizing Department (NOD) Governing Power Organizer

Core responsibilities:

• Support the development and execution of electoral campaigns within SURJ's National Organizing Department to prevent authoritarian consolidation and win back governing power
• Set up online and in-person infrastructure in target electoral races to meet short- and long-term campaign and movement goals
• Identify and develop members and leaders within SURJ's base to hold roles in volunteer-run operations through recruitment, tracking progress, troubleshooting, and adjusting plans
• Participate in basebuilding, campaigning, and maintain excellent communication with staff across the organization

This role creates positive change by organizing white people to join multiracial majorities fighting for racial and economic justice, building political power to prevent authoritarian consolidation and win governing power for marginalized communities.

Required qualifications:

• 3+ years experience with volunteer recruitment, training and management
• Demonstrated ability developing member leaders into taking on responsibility on campaigns
• Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects
• Familiarity with online organizing tools (Slack, Google Drive, EveryAction, etc.)
• Experience doing organizing on issues of racial justice and knowledge of organizing tools/software
• Strong written communication, public speaking, training, and facilitation skills
