National Education Specialist

Core responsibilities:

• Lead or contribute to the Bank's dialogue with executing units to support program planning and implementation by applying advanced technical knowledge, project management tools, and methods.
• Lead or support the identification, development, and implementation of complex education sector projects, programs, studies, or main activities in Suriname.
• Conduct and/or coordinate moderately complex research and analysis, contributing to the development of innovative knowledge products related to the education sector in Suriname.
• Support policy dialogue with the Government of Suriname, development partners, and other stakeholders by proposing evidence-based and context-appropriate solutions.

This role creates positive change by advancing educational development in Suriname through project management, policy dialogue, and innovative approaches that improve learning outcomes and education sector performance in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree in education, economics, public administration, public policy, sociology, or other relevant fields.
• Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in the education sector in developing countries, including promotion, programming, design, financing, supervision, execution, and evaluation of education projects.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written) required; additional Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, or French preferred.
• Citizenship of one of the IDB's 48-member countries and eligibility to work in the job location without sponsorship.
