MHPSS Expert - East Africa

Provide psychosocial support to at-risk journalists and media professionals in East Africa through individual and group sessions, both online and offline, as part of the MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices program.

• Deliver individual and group psychosocial support sessions to media makers in East Africa.
• Assess and coordinate MHPSS needs among program fellows.
• Offer trauma-informed care to journalists in crisis and conflict regions.

This role directly supports the mental health and resilience of journalists and media professionals who are at risk due to their critical work, enabling them to continue their essential contributions to transparent and inclusive societies.

• Proven psychosocial counselling qualifications.
• In-depth knowledge of trauma-related support preferred.
• Experience analyzing and coordinating MHPSS needs.
• Availability to provide group therapy sessions online.
• Experience working with journalists and people in active crisis and conflict regions preferred.
• Counselling available in Arabic and/or English language preferred.
• Working knowledge of English is required.

Freelance contract from August 2026 to June 2027. Compensation details not specified.
