Managing Editor, Donor Communications

Responsibilities

• Provide editorial leadership by collaborating with Communications Department editors to align messaging strategy, articulate organizational vision, and share editorial best practices
• Manage project intake and prioritization for a team of three writers, overseeing administrative, budgeting, and personnel management
• Produce foundational Donor Communications assets including reports, proposal templates, cultivation decks, and other fundraising collateral
• Support Development initiatives such as strategic planning, innovation, infrastructure and operations, and expanding collaboration across teams

This role enhances the donor journey of Earthjustice supporters at all levels of giving by ensuring accurate, brand-aligned, and persuasive storytelling that articulates the organization's vision for protecting people's health, preserving wildlife, advancing clean energy, and combating climate change.

Required qualifications:

• 10+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in development writing
• Experience managing capacity for a high-volume communications team
• Demonstrated experience delivering writing trainings for grant writers or other persuasive writers or development professionals
• Proven strengths in absorbing and synthesizing complex program information and translating it into compelling written cases for external audiences
• Expertise in a range of communications vehicles including print deliverables, pitch decks, web content, and interactive multimedia
• Capacity to adopt and leverage technologies including CRM databases, CMS platforms, analytics dashboards, and collaboration tools

The annual salary range for this role in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY is $123,800 – $137,500. The annual salary range in Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, Chicago, IL, or Washington, D.C. is $117,600 – $130,700. The annual salary range in Denver, CO or Philadelphia, PA is $111,400 – $123,800. The annual salary range in Miami, FL, or Houston, TX is $105,200 – $116,900. Remote location annual salary range will depend on specific location ($105,200 – $137,500).
